The stunning view from the top of the Fish Rock Watch Tower overlooking the Pacific Ocean at the Mendocino Stone Ranch is a memory made to last. Perched at the top of the ridge overlooking the Pacific Ocean – Mendocino Stone Ranch is the perfect unique venue for a wedding, elopement, family reunion, anniversary party, birthday party, corporate retreat, or event of any kind – that you and your guests will never forget.
Mendocino Stone Ranch boasts over 30 one of a kind stone masonry art installations created by stone masons from around the world, linked by trails throughout 30 walkable acres of beautiful redwood forest with stunning ocean views. We are located in Anchor Bay, CA, a 2-hour drive from Santa Rosa, 10 minutes north of Gualala, and 15 minutes south of Point Arena, CA, on the Mendocino Coast.
Throughout the property, there are many outdoor spaces to gather and celebrate. Numerous stone patios adorned with artistic detailing are perfect locations for cocktail hour, dinners, dance floors, and more. Take a walk on one of our trails and immerse yourself in the sounds of the redwood forest around you. Our pergola patio is the perfect place to sit and appreciate your surroundings for dinner or dancing. Dry stack schist bridges, retaining walls, sculptures, arches, and installations created by artisan masons are at every turn, tempting your guests with an expansive outdoor art gallery to explore throughout your stay with us.
The drive from the Bay Area to Stone Ranch includes stretches through pastures of western Sonoma County and the Sonoma County Coastline, among the most beautiful in the world. Gualala is a quiet seaside town on the Pacific Ocean at the mouth of the Gualala River on the Mendocino Coast, just over 3 hours from San Francisco. The town is small but has much to offer, including two grocery markets, multiple inns and bed and breakfasts, restaurants, art galleries, and retail stores. Anchor Bay, a 5-minute drive down the hill from Stone Ranch, offers an all-you-need one-stop-shop, the Anchor Bay Market, a great Thai restaurant, a coffee shop, and two fabulous hotels. Point Arena offers one market, numerous restaurants, hotels, and the Arena Cove, where you can enjoy some pizza while taking in the sunset and observing the pier.
The Redstone House:
The property has a three-bedroom, two-bath, two-loft home that comfortably sleeps 12 on the north side of the property (view our map (link) for more information on the property layout). The Redstone House was remodeled in 2012 and customized throughout with artisan tile accents by our late founder, Peter Mullins. Towering redwoods surround it and feature a red sandstone patio with a fire pit surrounded by tile mosaics from the Catalina Island seawall. Just a few feet from that lays our black granite wood-fired pizza oven, available for use by chefs. The home offers a master bedroom with a California king bed, an adjacent bathroom with a bath and shower, a guest room with one queen bed and a twin bed, a second bathroom with shower, and two lofts accessible via ladders that each have two twin beds. There is also a separate downstairs room that sleeps 3, with one queen bed and a twin bed, accessible via sliding glass doors at the back of the home. No parties are allowed at our rentals unless the entire property is rented for an event.
The Adobe House
For large groups that require more space, we have an additional three-bedroom, two-bath ocean-facing home on the south side of the property that comfortably sleeps 8+. The master bedroom has ocean views, one king bed, an adjacent bathroom with bath and shower, and two upstairs guest rooms with one queen bed each. The guest bathroom has a shower, and the house comes with one queen air mattress.
The Watchtower Yurt
Just steps from the Fish Rock Watch Tower, we proudly offer our heated yurt with a king-size bed that can sleep 8 more, depending on how comfortable your group is with a shared space. The yurt has ocean views and lies just steps away from the Fish Rock Watch Tower. A permanent porta-potty 50 feet away from the yurt is serviced regularly.
Genevieve Mullins is the daughter of our late founder, Peter J. Mullins. After Peter’s passing in 2022, Genevieve quit her jobs in Fort Bragg, CA, to take over what was then referred to as The Mendocino Stone Zone. In 2024, she founded Mendocino Stone Ranch and the nonprofit the Mendocino Stone Zone to carry on her father’s stone legacy. Genevieve grew up in San Francisco and Los Angeles and moved to the Mendocino Coast full-time in 2017. She fell in love with the area after a lifetime of living in the city and feels extremely lucky to live in such a wonderful place.
Mendocino Stone Ranch is a place for romantics, art lovers, rock enthusiasts, adventurers, and those looking for a place to escape the city, rest, or be inspired. Just a stone’s throw from enchanting beaches, towering redwood forests, and the seasonal bounties of Mendocino’s farms, you can craft an experience to suit your desires and take a recharging break from the hectic pace of everyday life.
